Dosdoom

I have uploaded the archive of my dos-doom project and I am planning to fix the sound and get the game working better. I know that there is Edge which is descended from dos-doom, but I do not want to take the game in that direction. I just want to make a new better version of Dos-doom. The best version of Doom yet.

I am going to use SDL to get the sound in dosdoom working, it will be much better than using the sound-server code. SDL can easily handle the job of managing sound output anyway.

I have just installed the openbox Window Manager and despite the way it looks exactly like Blackbox & Fluxbox on the surface, it is quite a good version of the Blackbox code. I copied the ${HOME}/.blackbox/blackbox-menu to ${HOME}/.openbox/menu and I had a proper root menu to use to access my applications. It does not setup a root menu like blackbox does automatically, at least when I loaded it up, but you can easily setup your own. it is a very good Window manager too. It supports the Windowmaker dock applications and you can have wmCalClock and others running on your desktop. Although my favorite desktop environment is KDE3.3. Which is very easy to use and good looking too. It performs much better than Windows XP and Windows 2000 with less powerful hardware. And is much more stable. Windows XP is always having some issues. Especially with security concerning Internet usage and trojans & spyware. But if you use Mozilla Firefox and/or Mozilla suite 1.7 then you will be a little safer.

http://www.mozilla.org. The homepage of the Mozilla browser.

I also have a good tip for OpenOffice.org users like myself. If you type a URL and you want just plain text, just hit CRTL-Z and the hyperlink formatting will be removed.

Getting back to my dos-doom source mod. I have added the MF_STEALTH thing flag and re-coded the f_finale.c file to work better with Doom2 & Ultimate Doom. Each switch() option only needs to return; if there is no need echo any content of a variable. There is no need for case: none. I hope that will settle things. I have added menu options in the game-play menu for changing the Spectres and Lost Souls from MT_SHADOW, MT_STEALTH, MT_TRANSLUCENT and the normal display values. This code is taken from dos-doom v0.64 and works very well, I might change the settings for MT_STEALTH to make the monsters more invisible. But for now it is a good demonstration of the dos-doom engine. And you could use the flag in Dehacked if you wanted to. My version of dos-doom does include the dehacked support, as well as human exploding s and human madness. And the enhanced monster AI and random infighting. As well as the full-on infighting option. Which is quite funny when you have a Revenant fighting with a Revenant. Could you place bets on who wins? I have not got the sound support working but I am getting there. I plan to use the existing sound code and update it to work with modern Linux systems. using some of the features from . This should not be too difficult...

Anyone want to help?

In the news, A judge has been reported to have been Masturbating with a `Penis Pump' during serious court proceedings. A Robert Thompson was reported to have been using the device during a murder case. As well as during two other cases. The device was clearly audible on a court recording of proceedings and the Judge is facing large fines and Jail time for his misdemeanors. Quite a randy Gentleman. I wonder if he will defend himself by saying, `I never ever had sexual relations with that Dick Pump!'

I have been looking at the dos sound code for dos-doom and I am thinking of using it for the sound, Allegro that is. Should be simple... I have the dos-doom version 0.64 to learn from, that version already uses the Allegro sound code and I might port that back to my version. But I am fixing game-play elements first. I just want to make this the best version of dos-doom yet.
